STRATEGIES TO DEVELOP PERCEPTION AND NUMERICAL CALCULUS
6 to 10 years of age
The content aims to provide strategies to practice the development of mental calculus by solving numerical operations and problems. Students find motivation as they calculate, find and draw attractive images on a 100-point grid.
•Each module contains 33 activities.
•Instructions are given to help the development of each activity.
• The level of arithmetic is designed according to the grade, in line with national standards.
•Students work with one activity per week.
•Students carry out approximately 1,050 exercises in mathematics (mental calculus) during the school year.
ANIMAPLANOS, is a series of modules that are designed using graphs and pictures that relate a range of simple numerical operations to a number grid of 100 points.
The relationship between the location of the points and the results obtained via numerical calculus awakens an interest in students for solving arithmetic operations. Students also develop a general appreciation for mathematics, as they realize that through accurate calculations and spatial orientation they produce an aesthetically pleasing image (in the form of a person, animal or object).

With the idea of maximising the use of the material and the internalization of the training, Didáctica y Matemáticas offer for each grade a TEACHER’S RESOURCE as supporting material.
This consists of an Animaplanos module written in Spanish, in which the teacher will be able to find all the activities with the respective answers, as well as a color image of the corresponding activity on the number grid.
The resource is important for the teacher as it allows him or her to compare answers both quickly and confidently.
The resource is also provided WITHOUT ADDITIONAL COST to the teachers who are using the ANIMAPLANOS series as supplementary material to improve students’ skills in numerical mental calculus during the school year.
